9 Ways to Add Wood Countertops to Your Home
Over the past several years, we’ve seen all white kitchens take the reign as a leading trend. While this trend continues, designers have been warming up the whites with wood countertops across the state of Georgia.
From our home base in Athens, GA, it’s been fun to see the creative ways wood countertops are being used in the kitchen and other rooms in the home. While we’ve discussed our low maintenance countertop finish and the different types of countertops that exist, today we want to feature 9 unique and creative ways you can bring wood countertops into your home.
By far the most popular choice for bringing wood countertops into your space. As guests and family gather around when the food is being prepared, having a warm and inviting surface is a factor you don’t want to overlook.
2. End Caps on Kitchen Island
We are currently working on a similar butcher block countertop similar to this in Atlanta, GA - this picture and design is from Studio McGee. The added touch of warmth on this Island with Edge Grain (Butcher block) White Oak end cap really creates a “wow” factor. We normally finish our wood countertops with conversion varnish, however, if you prefer to use the surface for cutting and chopping we can use a food safe oil instead. To protect your knives we only recommend edge grain or end grain surfaces for the long term life of your knives.
3. The Entire Space
Who needs Granite! Go big or go home!
4. Butler’s Pantry
We recently had a customer from Monroe, GA come to us for their butler’s pantry and we are looking forward to seeing the final product. After taking the time to remodel your kitchen, don’t overlook the area of the kitchen you are constantly running to for an extra can of tomatoes.
5. Coffee Bar
But first, coffee. Wanting an all white kitchen, our client brought in added touches of warmth for his morning cup of joe with a Black Walnut coffee bar.
6. Bathroom Vanity
While sometimes overlooked, the bathroom is great space in the home where guests can take in your creativity. We love the soothing nature of wood and seeing its presence in the bathrooms - especially this Live-edge piece!
7. Laundry Room
This is another inspiration photo to a project we are completing for a laundry room here in Athens, GA. Our clients not only wanted a smooth surface for folding clothes but also a desk area of any home organization tasks.
8. Wet Bar
As the already warm and inviting host that you are, bring in more warmth and cheer to the cocktail area with a Black Walnut countertop.
9. Kitchen High-Top
Similar to the kitchen island, these homeowners wanted a high-top table for their basement kitchen. Using Reclaimed Heart Pine, we crafted the countertop for this kitchen area.
